Sri City Ecosystem provides ample opportunities for Product Innovation & Development due to the presence of many leading global brands in Sri City, Chennai & Bengaluru. Besides the Work-Study Dual Model of Education, SIU is focusing on building tinkering-labs & facilities for product innovation; and encouraging companies to set up their product design & development Labs on SIU Campus.
In the first year of operation itself, SIU has enabled multiple Product Labs. Our Product Labs is a space where students, innovators, mentors and industry experts come together to build solutions for Bharat. The lab encourages fresh thinking across Technology, AI, IoT, Automation, Business and Digital platforms.
With guidance from experts from IITs, IIITs, startups and industry leaders, students and faculty get the opportunity to learn, experiment, prototype and launch products that solve real-world problems.
What We Build
Spotlight:
The AI-Powered Bowling Machine
The AI-based bowling machine developed at our labs is the standout in the current product portfolio. Built for cricket academies, training centres and serious players, it doubles as a bowling machine and an AI-driven simulator — and it has already drawn attention from the wider cricket-training market.
The machine pairs precision ball-delivery hardware with real-time analytics, so every session generates data the batter and coach can actually use. Speeds run from a gentle 50 km/h for children all the way up to 150 km/h for senior players.
Batters can train against leg-spin, out-swing, reverse swing, express pace, seam movement and variation of length — each modelled into the machine’s logic using captured bowling data.
For an academy, this turns one machine into a year-round training partner that is consistent, programmable and capable of preparing a batter for almost every situation cricket can throw at them.

WEEWA — The Environmental Intelligence Platform
WEEWA is a smart monitoring and analytics platform developed through the Product Labs to unify Water, Energy, Environment, Weather & Atmosphere systems into a single real-time intelligence platform. By integrating live sensor networks and data streams, it transforms raw operational data into actionable insights for campuses, industrial parks, smart cities and large infrastructure environments.
The platform provides real-time monitoring, historical analysis, trend visualization and interactive dashboards that offer a comprehensive view of resource utilization and environmental conditions. This integrated approach enables stakeholders to gain better visibility into critical systems and make informed operational decisions.
Beyond monitoring, WEEWA empowers organizations to improve sustainability, optimize resource utilization and enhance operational efficiency through data-driven intelligence.
Convergence Projects — IoT & AI Labs
The IoT & AI Labs serve as a convergence platform where artificial intelligence, robotics, computer vision, automation and connected devices come together to create intelligent real-world solutions. Developed through the Product Labs ecosystem, the lab focuses on building systems that can sense, analyze and respond to their environments using an integrated combination of hardware, software and AI technologies.
Students and researchers work on projects such as autonomous robots, AI-powered vision systems, industrial IoT platforms, smart monitoring solutions, gesture-controlled interfaces and touchless human-machine interaction technologies. By leveraging technologies including embedded systems, sensors, edge computing, machine learning, cloud platforms and analytics tools, the lab transforms innovative ideas into functional prototypes.
